Built for Operational Environments. Not Just Sustainability Checklists.

The BioBreath straw is a single-piece biodegradable consumable designed to replace the plastic straws currently used in routine alcohol breath testing.

It is not a workaround. It is not a compromise. It is a purpose-built alternative that fits the same devices, follows the same process, and performs the same function without the plastic waste.

For organisations conducting hundreds or thousands of breath tests per year, switching to BioBreath is one of the most straightforward plastic reduction steps available.

Device Compatibility

BioBreath is currently designed for use with the following Alcolizer breath testing devices

No Adaptors. No Modifications. No Retraining.

The BioBreath straw is designed to sit directly onto compatible Alcolizer devices in the same way as the existing plastic consumable.

There is no separate adaptor, no device modification, and no change to the testing process your team already knows.

What the BioBreath Straw Is Made From

Material transparency matters especially for procurement decisions in government and industry. Here is exactly what the BioBreath straw is made from and what that means.

Base material

100% PBS

BioBreath straws are made from 100% polybutylene succinate (PBS), a certified compostable resin free from petroleum-based plastics.

What it does not contain

Free from BPA, plasticisers and heavy metals

The BioBreath straw contains no bisphenol A (BPA), no plasticisers and no heavy metals, per current supplier specifications.

Certification

DIN CERTCO certified compostable resin

The resin holds DIN CERTCO certification for compostable material, compliant with EN 13432 and ASTM D6400. Under industrial composting conditions it fully degrades within 180 days. In landfill, visible fragments begin breaking down within 2-3 years.

Important note on certification

What the certification covers

The DIN CERTCO certification applies to the raw resin material, not the finished straw product. BioBreath straws are manufactured from this certified resin. We will not overstate what this means. Full material documentation is available on request.

Packaging Designed to Match the Product

Single-use consumables require hygienic, ready to use packaging. BioBreath straws are individually wrapped in paper sleeves and supplied in cardboard boxes keeping plastic out of the packaging as well as the product.

BioBreath breathalyser straws have a confirmed shelf life of more than 2 years under standard storage conditions. This applies specifically to the thick-wall injection-moulded design and has been confirmed by the manufacturer.

Recommended storage: 20-25°C, relative humidity 40-60%, dry and ventilated area, sealed packaging, away from direct sunlight.

PACKAGING DETAILS

  • Individual paper sleeves hygienic, single-use presentation

  • Cardboard outer box no plastic wrap or plastic bags.
